- Heard in mcgowans at the weekend that the gorgeous tall dark sunday night doorman has finished for good. Does anyone know if this is true. Please tell me its not. He was the main attraction of the place. Does he have a girlfriend, where can we reach him......come back. Help !

-Who is that tall dark friendly doorman who works on Sunday nights??? He is soooo hot......Nice guy too.He is THE reason myself and the girls go there religiously every Sunday night.....to drool. Does anyone know what other nights he works cos have dropped in on different ones to no avail. Just not the same without him and no reason to hang around. xxxx

-Awesome, awesome, awesome, love it, food is fantastic, atmosphere top notch, staff all long standing and wonderfully friendly and helpful, taxi's in the middle of the night NO problem, I just love this place, everything about it..... it's worth the visit trust me.

-I used to work in McGowans and off the many pubs I worked in it's the only 1 I would go back to work in or socialize in, they even made me a cocktail bar!

-Hi there, a group of catalan people were there in McGowans last weekend (6th and 7th October)and we really enjoy our time in this pub. Nice music, nice people and... I'm looking for a guy called Liam (30 years old and Doctor, if i remember well). We share a sweet night, and we forgot to exchange our emails or telephone numbers. - Really like this bar!! Great layout, music is good, food is beautifull and the drink prices are reasonable but i do have one irratation and that is "The Door Staff". Over the last 3 months i have attended this bar around 5 times and on each occasion i have had to give either my life story or try to explain that just because i'm smiling and looking in the direction of the door staff does not mean i've had too much to drink!! I will continue to frequent this bar as i do like the clientelle and atmosphere!! Cheers.

- Great spot if you dont fancy going into rip off Dublin City, entrance can be tricky due to the unprofessionalism and stubborness received from the power tripping bouncers who also seem to suffer from a form of alzimers i.e the inevitable "ive never seen you here before". Ignore these pawns and inside is a warm atmosphere,good music good craic and a nice pint at a reasonable price.

- This establishment has been my second home for many a night since I was introduced to Dublin nitelife almost three years ago. Being from Cavan I have always felt at home due to the kind welcoming nature of the staff and clientele which frequent the spot. My favourite night to head here is Thursday nights as there is nowhere better to kick off the w/end than McGowans of Phibsboro. The pints are quite refreshing and fairly priced when pitted against the rest of the cities watering holes and it is easily accessible being on a busy road route for taxi's to and from the place. Admission fee is minimal and justified. The interior whilst natural looking could do with some renovation. Music could also be improved on, however, in general for a good time and lots of crack this is the place for me!

- Have been to this pub twice in the past year and and even though i said it after the first time, I will never go back purely because of the treatment you get at the Door. The doormen are VERY unpleasant and rude to the customers. However, the other bar staff are pleasant and even though the que's at the bar are long, it moves quickly. Music was good, i like the upstairs. If you're single and out to pull, Girls....dont bother. Chaps....take your pick!
