We headed off to Ventura Boulevard as made famous by the Tom Petty song and entered Maeve's Residuals and ended up staying for oh the best part of a week!! There is a real homely feel to the Maeves during the sunny LA afternoons where the steady flow of customers come in and out chatting and conversing about all sorts of subjects and making all new visitors feel more than welcome and relaxed.

There is a large selection of spirits and bottle beers as well as the aforementioned Guinness and Smithwicks on tap. The service is excellent and the barstaff very friendly.

Becoming a bit peckish we asked if they served food only to be told there is a delivery service upon which we were presented with a book cataloging all the food in the area - pretty much everything you can think of - and were told we could eat in the bar. The bargirl took our order and within half an hour we were tucking in to some great sushi.

After a pitstop we headed back on Friday night to see a live band and the atmosphere was excellent as the band rocked their way through covers and original songs.

Maeve's Residuals is truly a great bar upholding all the traditions of a great Dublin Bar the main difference between it and Dublin is that when you head outside for a smoke, you just might end up with a suntan!!

So if you ever find yourself in the City of Angels and looking for a great night out, Maeve's is the place to go. We definitely hope to be back soon!
